  1. EKOTEH completed IAEA funded project on conditioning and transport of disused radioactive sources that had been found in the military factory in Bosnia-Herzegovina. We have been chosen by the IAEA to execute the task.
    We get accreditation by Croatian accreditation agency for individual monitoring using TLD system and ambient dose rate equivalent (*H) according to HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2007.
    EKOTEH organized training course for sanitary inspectors supervising the use of non-ionizing radiation sources in Croatia.
    Asked by the Ministry of Health and Social Care we participated in drafting the Law on the protection against non-ionizing radiation.

    We organized training course for sanitary inspectors supervising the use of ionizing radiation sources in Croatia.
  3. EKOTEH finished process of introduction of TLD system for individual monitoring replacing the former filmdosimetry method.

  4. For Siemens d.d. we executed dismantling and export of 60Co source from teletherapy device that was installed in Oncology department of Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka.
    We completed four projects initiated by the Ministry of Health and Social Care:
    • Optimization of patient exposure during CT examinations,
    • Optimization of patient exposure during mammography,
    • Study on the management of radioactive waste in Croatia,
    • Procurement of the instrument for measurement of the radioactive content in foodstuffs and consumer products.
    These were won on public tender.
    Purchasing the Panasonic TL reader and dosimeters we commenced introduction of TLD system for individual monitoring.
  5. IAEA ordered from EKOTEH execution of the project of conditioning and packaging of the radioactive sources placed in the closed old storage at Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health.
    In cooperation with IAEA we organized 2nd Workshop of RECAN on optimization of exposure in medicine with participation of 28 European and Centralasian countries.
    We commenced process of accreditation according to the standard HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2007.
  6. EKOTEH participated in projects of IAEA for the management of sealed disused sources in Croatia and implementation of quality assurance in medical institutions.
    We participated in the first meeting of RECAN (Vilnius Lithuania) organized by IAEA within the framework of regional project to launch the network. Mladen Novaković was appointed as a member of the Steering Committee.
    As the expert Mladen Novaković participated in expert mission to Montenegro organized by the IAEA.
  7. EKOTEH became representative of Croatia to European Alara Network (EAN).
    Mladen Novaković was engaged by IAEA for the expert mission to Macedonia.
  8. EKOTEH procured and introduced new methods in testing of x-ray devices used in medicine. We won the public tender for the study of emergency preparedness in case of radiological accident initiated by Ministry of Health.
    Mladen Novaković was engaged by IAEA for two expert missions to Macedonia.
  9. EKOTEH expanded the market and upgraded the testing methods. We participated as lecturers in national training courses organized by Croatian Institute for radiation protection.

  10. Mladen Novaković appointed as an expert for the missions to Macedonia in order to facilitate implementation of international recommendations in the country.
    Representatives of EKOTEH participated in IAEA training courses and workshops. We actively contributed to designs of training programmes in Croatia and participated in the national courses. Representative of the EKOTEH participated in EAN Workshop.
    EKOTEH published a book: Protection against ionizing radiation-Croatian legislation with comments.
  11. EKOTEH was granted new approval to render expert services in the area of radiation protection according to the new legislation („Official Gazette“no. 34/00).
    Experts of EKOTEHA participated in national courses for exposed workers organized by Croatian Institute for Radiation Protection.
  12. EKOTEH organized and executed replacement of 6 sealed 60Co sources in teletherapy devices in Croatia. With financial support by Croatian Health Insurance Agency and French company Bio International Saclay EKOTEH organized transport from France of the new sources and transport from Croatia to France of disused 6 sources.
    New Law on the protection against ionizing radiation and also the Law on the protection against non-ionizing radiation had been passed by the Parliament. We participated in the procedure
  13. Our participants contributed a lot during the work on new legislation for the radiation protection. We participated to the task group appointed to draft regulation for the protection against non-ionizing radiation sources.
    Mladen Novaković participated in the expert mission of IAEA sent to Bosnia-Herzegovina to help the project of restauration of damaged radioactive sources.
  14. EKOTEH strengthen position on the market, gradually we reached the leading role rendering our services in the field of radiation protection to the majority of the clients in Croatia.
    We took the part in the management of disused radioactive lightning preventers and ionizing smoke detectors as well as other industrial sources.
    We participated in testing of the newly installed x-ray equipment in hospitals purchased by the Ministry of health.
    We participated in drafting the Law on the protection against ionizing radiation.
  15. Ministry of Health started process of finalization of the new legislation and infrastructure for the protection against ionizing radiation. Commission was established and the representative of EKOTEH was Mladen Novaković.
    We are engaged to remove all disused sources from old interim storage of radioactive waste at IMI in the course of campaign of collecting old 226Ra sources for conditioning within the project supported by IAEA.
    We completed also the project of the restoration of damaged sources in the areas affected by war.
  16. EKOTEH introduced and offered on the market the service of individual monitoring using film badges. We are committed to render high quality services in the area of the protection against ionizing radiation.
  17. We continued to expand the number of our clients.
    We completed the second phase of the project of the restoration of sources damaged in the areas affected by war. Also we intensified dismantling of the radioactive lightning preventers and ionizing smoke detectors.
    EKOTEH moved to present location in the street Vladimira Ruždjaka 21.
  18. During this year EKOTEH finished the first phase of the project of restoration of the damaged sources in the areas affected by the war.
    We expanded the scope of services that now included also the testing of the ionizing radiation sources.
    Mladen Novaković participated in the training course on the disused sealed sources management organized by IAEA in Athens, Greece.
  19. During 1992 EKOTEH in cooperation with Public institute for radioactive waste management and international support (IAEA) incepted restoration of damaged radioactive sources in war affected areas of Croatia including: radioactive lightning rods, smoke detectors and sealed sources in medical and industrial facilities.
    Mladen Novaković participated in IAEA workshop on the use of irradiators for sterilization and conservation in Prague, Czech Republic.
    EKOTEH started to organize import of the radioactive sources for Croatian clients.
  20. Ministry of health granted permission to EKOTEH on September 2, 1991 to conduct the services in the field of the protection against ionizing radiation.
    We participated in documenting and measurement of the TENORM locations in Croatia.
  21. EKOTEH has been founded on August 20, 1991. Main activities were technical services involving ionizing radiation sources: installing, dismantling and transport of radioactive sources, measurement of ionizing radiation, consultancy related to the radiation protection and safety at work.
